This is the catalogue of the Desplazamientos exhibition by Andrea Robbins and Max Becher, held at the Museo ICO, Madrid, in the context of PHotoEspaña 2016. The work of Robbins & Becher examines the effects of culture and people displacements, and explores random stereotypes and clichés. The “Black Cowboys” photo series analyses one of the oldest African-American traditions, little known outside the United States due to the banning of black cowboys from the iconography of Western films.
Determined to keep the ratios of the original photos within the book format, we decided to move away from the aesthetics of American politics, and designed a sober, chromatically austere book. We added a nod to westerns using a serif font and decided to take a quite lineal approach in the photo edition.
